Cricket News sort by India Vs New Zealand 2nd Test at Bangalore - Aug 31-Sep 4, 2012

India’s 2-0 triumph over New Zealand was least surprising. However, the manner in which victory was attained was in part satisfying, but in a way also disappointing.

A superb partnership of 96 runs between Virat Kohli and Skipper MS Dhoni saw India through in a tense run chase on the fourth day of the Bangalore Test. The pair carried India to a 5-wicket win to cleansweep the Test Series 2-0.

Following an intriguing day of Test cricket on Sunday, both India and New Zealand were left jostling for ascendancy. Neither team would feel that they have the upper hand just as yet.

Kruger van Wyk, the diminutive New Zealand Wicket Keeper will not be taking the field today on the fourth day’s play of the Second and Final Test at Bangalore.

India are the favourties to clinch a 2-0 cleansweep tomorrow at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore but would need the batsmen to come good for one last time in the series.

Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni saw India through the second day’s play without any further inroads as the hosts are trailing behind by 82 runs with 5 wickets in hand.

Bad light and rain brought a slightly early end to the proceedings on Day 1 of the Second Test. New Zealand were doing really well at 328 for 6 in 81.3 overs before play was called off abruptly.

The Bangalore Test between India and New Zealand will be settled pretty much by two factors: how well the Kiwi batsmen face the Indian spinners, and also how much the weather plays spoilsport, considering rain is forecast to be around for the coming days.

The Second and Final Test between India and New Zealand will begin tomorrow at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bangalore. India will be eyeing a 2-0 cleansweep in the series having embarrassed the Kiwis in the Hyderabad Test with a big innings victory.
